………….is not tecahing!
In a conversation with Kane, an ex-pupil and now BST (I’m true to my word giving you the credit Kane!), we were talking about my shift in being less didactic/autocratic and allowing far more choice and creativity for the pupils. Holding back, when your instinct is telling you to say what they did wrong, or what they can do better.
Sometimes, it’s far better to wait, allow thinking time, let them work it out, perhaps ask a prompting question. Perhaps not stepping in at the first sign of conflict. Learning is far more powerfull if the learner can work things out for themselves.
Which lead me to say ‘sometimes, the most diificult thing about teaching is’…………… I paused, Kane promptly finshed it off.
